Have you seen The Terminator? We hadn't! Because Adventism. - Episode 124

Ami and Abby watch The Terminator 1 and 2 for the first time in their 30's. Ami and Alex talk about the films and other cultural touch-stones they missed. These were not necessarily "good" films, but they were important to our generation. Like so many pop-cultural icons, we missed them.

Check out this episode!

  1. Born in 1982, to Adventist missionaries, talk about missing my decades' hits...

  2. I wasn't even born yet when this movie came out. Nevertheless, my 2 best friends (both of whom are closer to your age than mine) both agreed it was a must see movie. And I really enjoyed both 1 and 2.

One thing I did pick up on, in Terminator 2, is that John (the little boy who I really thought was SUPPOSED to be 12 or 13) tells the Terminator that he was angry at his mother for years for telling him lies. It's now jarring to him to find out that these things his mother told him really aren't lies, they're true.

To me I kind of associated that with me being angry about Adventists for lying to me.If Adventist prophecy did suddenly come true, I would feel very similarly. It would be a really... I don't know what I would do if that all happened.
